PYP Exhibition: Citing sources and images (ATL--Research)

This LibGuide includes resources to help Grade 5 students, their teachers and mentors focus on reliable and age-appropriate sources for researching XN lines of inquiry.

When and how to cite images and photos

In this slideshow you will find information about the best sources for copyright-free or public domain* images. You will also learn about using Noodletools** to create image citations for your Bibliography.

*When a work is in the public domain, it is free for use by anyone for any purpose without restriction under copyright law. Public domain is the purest form of open/free, since no one owns or controls the material in any way (Creative Commons Wiki).

**Noodletools is also available in Google Apps.

How to cite your interview

It's very easy to create a citation for the interview you conducted as part of your PYP Exhibition research.

Here is the format for a citation for a personal interview. First list the name of the person you interviewed (Family name, Given name.) Then write the type of interview it was (Zoom interview OR Email interview OR Personal interview) and then write the date of the interview. See an example below:

Erdenekhuyag, Sunder. Zoom interview. 29 March 2022.

Research skills--evaluating sources

Use the CRAAP test to check the reliability of your sources
How do you know if the sources you are using are reliable? Use the CRAAP test (currency, reliability, accuracy, authority and purpose) to help you decide.
